In 1995 the paper mill evolved into Spezialpapierfabrik Oberschmitten in its current form.

Nowadays about 200 employees are working on the manufacturing and distribution of Glassine paper, Capacitor and Kraft Electrolytic paper, as well as Manila fibre Electrolytic Paper, Cable and Insulating Papers.

In an area of 80.000 sqm the capacity of SPO is about 14,000 tonnes paper per year which is manufactured on four paper machines:

PM 1 – Glassine paper, machine trim 1.500 mm
PM 2 – Glassine paper, machine trim 1.700 mm
PM 3 – capacitor paper, machine trim 1.900 mm
PM 4 – capacitor paper, machine trim 2.100 mm

Our paper is distributed internationally through exclusive representatives worldwide. Our export business is about 75%. The main application areas of our products are:
